Bull on the Run!
Bull on the Run!

Chaos erupted in the quiet town of Millfield on Tuesday morning when a fully grown bull escaped from a livestock truck and charged down Main Street, sending pedestrians scrambling for safety. The 1,500-pound animal had been en route to the county fair when it managed to break free during a routine stop.

Witnesses reported a surreal scene — a massive, snorting bull thundering past coffee shops and storefronts, with shopkeepers slamming doors shut and motorists swerving to avoid a collision. Children on a school field trip were quickly ushered into a nearby bakery by their teachers as the bull galloped past.

Local police were quickly dispatched, but containing the bull proved challenging. Officers tried to corral it using squad cars and ropes, but the animal was fast and unpredictable, doubling back at intersections and charging anything that moved. “It was like something out of a movie,” said Officer Rachel McCoy. “You don’t train for runaway livestock in basic training.”

After nearly an hour of tense pursuit, a local rancher, Tom Delaney, was able to calm and contain the animal using his experience and a bucket of feed. “You just gotta know how to talk to ’em,” he said with a grin, patting the exhausted bull.

No serious injuries were reported, though a few parked cars were damaged and one officer suffered a sprained ankle during the chase. The bull was safely returned to its owner, who promised to reinforce the truck’s gate next time.

Residents are calling it the most excitement Millfield has seen in years, with some jokingly referring to the event as “The Great Bull Run of 2025.”
